The 8th Farming Scotland Conference, co-sponsored by EQ, will be held at Carnoustie on Thursday, 3 February 2011.

Once again we are delighted to welcome a variety of knowledgeable and well respected speakers, who each have a different interest in the agricultural sector.

Professor Allan Buckwell is Policy Director for the Country Land and Business Association, and Chairman of the Policy Group of the European Landowners’ Organisation. He was Professor of Agricultural Economics at Wye College from 1984 to 1999. His work focuses on how land managers can be rewarded for delivering public environmental services and contribute to challenges such as climate change.

David Barnes, Deputy Director for Agricultural and Rural Development in the Scottish Government, has responsibility for policy of the CAP. He has represented the Scottish Government in the Pack review consultations and the future of SFP in Scotland.

Chris Rodgers from The Co-operative Bank is Senior Manager of their Renewable Energy & Asset Finance division. He has a wealth of experience and knowledge of renewable energy technologies and of financing projects through development to operation. Chris will speak to the conference about these experiences.

James Price, an Oxfordshire farmer, was Farmers Weekly “Young Farmer of the Year” in 2009. He manages his family’s large arable farm and has a particular interest in precision farming techniques, and has some innovative ideas to share with our conference.
