Careers and Recruitment
We recognise that our people and their knowledge are our biggest asset if we are to provide the high quality service our clients have come to expect.
We are often looking for skilled, multi-talented people to join our team.
We seek to employ people with an enthusiastic and progressive attitude and, above all, commitment.
Not only do we provide our people with an exceptional training ground, we guarantee a professionally rewarding career with an emphasis on continued professional development. The latter is actively encouraged through our performance appraisal scheme.
We seek to provide an environment where our people have every opportunity to grow both professionally and personally and fulfil their aspirations at each stage in their career. This has been acknowledged by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) who have awarded the firm with 'Platinum' accreditation in terms of trainee development. This is the highest level of accreditation they are able to award and recognises the high level of support we afford our trainees.
Below we have summarised the opportunities we sometimes have a need for:
- Newly Qualifieds and those with 2 - 3 years PQE
- Graduate Work Experience Placements
- Other Work Experience Placements
- Trainee Accounts Assistants
- Administrative Opportunities
Our closing date is now passed for graduates to commence Chartered Accountancy training contracts in August 2014. Any future vacancies will be advertised on our website and on the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland on-line application site www.becomeaca.org.uk and we would invite you to apply via this medium. Please refer to our Graduate Recruitment Factsheet for 2013 for more information regarding our graduate ICAS trainee programme and view our Staff Profiles to read about our past and current students' experiences of training with us.
Our minimum requirement is generally an honours degree (2:1 or above) in any discipline and no requirement for a work permit over the initial three year training contract.
We are able to offer superb opportunities in a pro-active general practice. You would have responsibility for a portfolio of clients (under partner/manager supervision) and the ability to develop your technical skills in an excellent environment. We offer genuine career prospects to ambitious individuals and an attractive remuneration package.
In our Dundee and Forfar offices, we are often looking for people who have recently completed the professional exams with ICAS, ACCA or ICAEW (or are about to do so) and have had relevant practice experience within the UK throughout their training.
We also often look for those who hold membership with ICAS, ACCA or ICAEW and have had relevant practice experience within the UK throughout your training and in the 2 - 3 years since qualifying.
Although we have no current open vacancies, you are welcome to send us your CV. Please send to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Within our offices, we offer students the chance to come and work for us for a few weeks over the summer. This gives the student the opportunity to see what working for a progressive, medium sized accountancy practice is really like before making any final decisions about what they want to do after graduation.
We recently had a student with us for 10 weeks. Read what she had to say.
We will be advertising vacancies for summer 2014 through the ICAS online application site early in 2014 and any students, preferably in their third year at university, who are interested in working with us for a period over the summer, should view our "internship/work placement" vacancy on the ICAS website www.becomeaca.org.uk in the New Year and apply on-line.
If you have any trouble applying with this method of application please contact email@example.com.
We also support the RGU Placement Scheme by employing a student throughout their third year. Read what one of our previous RGU placement students had to say of her experience.
We have filled our RGU placement for 2013/14 and future RGU placements will be advertised direct with the RGU placement office.
For fuller details of our graduate work experience placements please see our factsheet.
At times, we also offer work experience placements through various local schools and colleges. If you are interested in such a placement please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
At times, we will look for bright, ambitious people who are looking towards further formal studies within a work environment. Generally, we are looking for people with the ability to study at university but who make the choice, for whatever reason, not to pursue this route. After a settling in period we are able to offer the opportunity for further study (potentially beyond the level of a degree) which may suit school/college leavers who are looking at a vocational route rather than a graduate route into the profession. These positions may suit school/college leavers as no work experience is necessary.
Please send your CV and covering letter to Jenny Law, EQ, Chartered Accountants, Westby, 64 West High Street, Forfar, DD8 1BJ or email email@example.com.
