At EQ, we understand that juggling the financial and operational side of your business, at the same time as actually running the business, is not easy. We believe in taking away the hassle, giving you the chance to focus on running your business. That’s why we have a dedicated department called Amber Accounting, to offer our expertise and support to your day-to-day financial controls.

We can offer a bespoke collection of services to make your job as a business owner easier. Whether it is taking charge of your payroll, making sure your books are up to date or giving you the training on that tricky piece of accounting software, we are able to help.

Think of us as your Virtual Finance Office (VFO), always looking out for your business without you ever having to worry about managing a staff member or supplying the relevant training. We can control everything, or just provide some advice on which software package would be best for your business needs.

We know that no two clients are the same and therefore the outsourced services we offer to each client are bespoke to them, based on their requirements.

Amber Accounting offer the day-to-day provision of bookkeeping services, payroll, and VAT compliance for a large number of clients. Our range of services extends to management accounting, IT training, secondment of staff to cover short-term needs (such as sick leave or maternity cover) and, for some clients, the full outsourcing of their financial record-keeping.

As extensive users of accounting software ourselves, we have an in-depth knowledge of the software options available. We offer support to many of our clients in the selection and installation of accounting software, and can provide training and ongoing support.

Our aim is to work with you, reviewing your existing system, assessing your future requirements and identifying components that are working for you as well as those that need improvement or changing.

We know the benefits and downfalls of each software package and the add-ons and costs associated with them, so let us do the hard part and inform you of the best options out there.

If you need a new system, we will ensure that it is effectively implemented and that all staff using the software have been trained, as well as linking the software to other business processes – making your life as a business owner easier. After your new system has been implemented, our team will be on hand to answer any queries you may have about your new software and to provide further training, if necessary.

Whether you have a piece of existing software or are looking to acquire some new software, we can assist you every step of the way. From the initial discussions, through the installation and set-up to ongoing training on the software itself, we will be there to guide you as much or as little as required.

  • The Xero package is ideal for small businesses and charities with little in-house knowledge of bookeeping and/or accounting proceedures. With excellent training and back-up from Amber Accounting Services, we were quickly able to throw away the old Excel spreadsheets upon which we had relied for too long. Not only are accounting entries simple to make and reconcile, but the on-line nature of the system enables anyone authorised to access the package to do so whenever they wish to, and from wherever they may be. This is a big plus for us and enables management to keep a remote eye on things and download reports whenever needed. The additional benefit is that year end information is presented to our accountants, EQ, in a form which simplifies their year-end work and reduces overall cost.

Apprenticeship Levy

From April 2017, all UK employers with annual gross wage bills of more than £3m will have to pay an apprenticeship levy. The levy is aimed at funding an increased uptake of apprenticeships.
