A virtual welcome for our seven new graduates

A group of seven graduates have started their Chartered Accountancy journey with us, albeit in a slightly different manner than previous years.

As our offices remain closed following government advice, we have adapted our usual induction process and training programme to accommodate the current situation. Instead of ‘onboarding’ in an office environment, everything will be done digitally including their initial welcome and team introductions. All training for professional qualifications and related exams scheduled for October and December 2020 will be delivered through ICAS via virtual classrooms.

Although the new trainees will work remotely initially, they are to be based across our offices in Forfar, Dundee, Cupar and Glenrothes when it is safe for the offices to reopen. They will join our existing team of graduates who are progressing through their training, in spite of the current challenges.

The seven new graduates represent a range of disciplines including Accountancy graduates Sian James, Alistair Robertson and Beth Kochaniuk (University of Dundee), Ben Mitchell (Robert Gordon University) and Demi Hughes (Edinburgh Napier). They will be joined by Actuarial Science graduate Brogan Howe from Heriot-Watt University and Mechanical Engineering graduate Tom Cumming from University of Dundee, who also studied a MSc Industrial Engineering and International Finance.

We deliver an intensive, three-year training programme which is unrivalled locally when it comes to the experience, training and funding which graduates benefit from. The new trainees will receive a diverse training experience, developing skills in accountancy, taxation and audit and will be exposed to a broad range of assignments, with client responsibility from early on. The programme also offers the opportunity to enhance their personal skills and gain valuable insight into the firm’s business advisory services.
