Calls for extension to UK Games Fund

The trade association for the UK games sector, TIGA, has called on the UK government to continue the UK Games Fund beyond its March 2020 end date. The UK Games Fund is based in Dundee, and has already helped more than 70 studios.

The French Government have launched a campaign to attract businesses to move to mainland Europe, and TIGA believes that an extension can be used as a way of ensuring UK studios aren’t lured away.

Dougie Rae, head of EQ Technology, commented:

“Funding is vital to every games studio, be it grant funding of the type provided by the UK Games Fund or through Video Games Tax Relief. The extension of the UK Games Fund would demonstrate the continued support by the UK Government for this sector that continues to innovate and grow”.
