Why did you choose a career in Accounts? I’ve always had an interest in business/finance and wanted a career that had infinite growth. That’s why accounts was the perfect option for me.
Why did you choose the opportunity to join EQ over college or university? After doing my highers I knew straightaway that I want to join a firm where I could work and learn at the same time, hence I chose EQ over university.
Why did you choose EQ Accountants? I chose to join EQ as it is a local firm which has gained a great reputation. Also after doing some research it was evident that EQ is a rapid growing firm helping many achieve their goals which inspired me to become a part of it.
What’s a day in the life of a Trainee Accounts Assistant like? Unlike some other office jobs, no day is the same working as a Trainee Accounts Assistant. One day you could be working on a small sole trader’s tax, and on another day, you could be working on a set of accounts for a large company.
What qualifications are you studying towards? Currently, I am doing exams for CAT qualification, then my next step would be to start ACCA.
What do you enjoy most about being a Trainee Accounts Assistant at EQ? I enjoy the fact that every day is a learning day. Every day you get to build on your skills and expand on your knowledge. The whole process of learning is enjoyable due to the people I work with. Everyone is willing to help you and encourage you to do your best. You are backed up at every step of the way at EQ which makes it less daunting to work in an office, especially as a school leaver.
What 3 qualities do you think a Trainee Accounts Assistant needs to have if they are to be successful?
Do you have any advice for those interested in applying to join the team? I would say that don’t think that you need to be a genius in maths or have experience in accountancy to apply for this job.
