Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) Update

HMRC have been working urgently to set up an online portal for businesses to access the CJRS which provides an employer a grant of 80% of employees’ wages (up to £2,500 per month) for those that have been furloughed (been put on temporary leave).

We highlighted the key facts and steps that had to be taken in order to be eligible to receive this in our previous article here.

HMRC have advised that they expect their online portal to be live by 20 April and will be in touch to inform businesses of what they need to do in due course.

Our EQ Accounting department deal with payroll for over 300 clients with more than 3,000 employees and have been informed that we should be able to submit claims on their behalf. If you are an existing EQ Accounting payroll client and would like us to make a claim for you when the portal is up and running, please get in touch with your usual EQ contact as soon as possible who will discuss this with you.

HMRC are expecting phone demand to be beyond their capacity to offer a normal service, therefore, will be setting up the portal up to be “self-serve” with guidance available to support those using the service.

In order to make the claim using the portal, you will need the following information:

  • National Insurance number
  • Salary, National Insurance and pension contribution information that allows you to calculate the claim amount

Should you wish to submit your own claim, our EQ Accounting team can provide this information if we complete your payroll or as advised above, we can discuss the option of making the claim on your behalf.

We will provide more information as soon as it becomes available. In the meantime, we recommend ensuring you have the correct details required for when the portal goes live on 20 April in order to efficiently make your claim.

To discuss your own circumstances, please contact your usual EQ or EQ contact or get in touch with us by emailing info@eqaccounting.co.uk or call 01382 312140.
