EQ at home – Eilidh Giudice

At EQ, our people are at the heart of what we do.

Although working from home means we are physically spread across our regions, our team are working hard to maintain regular communication with their clients whilst continuing to support colleagues by connecting with them daily.

We caught up with Eilidh Giudice, Assistant Manager from our Glenrothes office, to find out more about her experience working from home.

How are you finding working remotely?

I think I’ve settled in quite well and have established a routine now. Having worked in audit I’ve been used to working on my own in offices at clients, so I think that has set me up well for working from home.

Me and my husband have both been working at the dining room table, despite having an office set up in one of our bedrooms, so at least there is someone there to have a chat with throughout the day.

There has been plenty of work to keep me busy and the days are flying by.

What are you doing to keep in touch with the rest of the EQ team?

Communication is key at a time like this and we have Microsoft Teams set up to keep in touch with others in our office. I’ve also been on the phone to colleagues and having video calls to ensure everyone is up to date with workloads and just to see how others are coping working from home.

How are you looking after your emotional well being?

At the end of the working day I ensure I go for a walk which I find is helpful to split the working day from my evenings. It’s easy to continue working until quite late but it’s important to have the separation between the working day and the evening.

I’ve been restricting watching the news to first thing in the morning and the daily update in the evening as it can become quite consuming.

Lots of video calls with friends and family has definitely helped, it doesn’t feel like it’s been two weeks since I’ve seen them all!

What advice would you give to others working from home?

Try to create a routine that works for you, once you get into a routine it definitely makes things a lot easier. I would also recommend packing away your work in the evenings, it reduces the likelihood of you sitting down to finish a few things off. You need time to relax in the evenings.

Tell us, what are your new co-workers like?

He’s been great at keeping me topped up with coffee!

Our doors may be temporarily closed, but EQ are still here to support you. You can contact us on any of our usual telephone numbers and email addresses, which you can find on the Our People page on this website.
