EQ at home – Kelly Meiklejohn

At EQ, our people are at the heart of what we do.

Although working from home means we are physically spread across our regions, our team are working hard to maintain regular communication with their clients whilst continuing to support colleagues by connecting with them daily.

We caught up with Kelly Meiklejohn, Assistant Manager in our Forfar office, to find out more about her experience working from home.

How are you finding working remotely?

It is strange working by myself when I’m used to working in a room with 10 other people, however, I am really enjoying having the radio on!  I don’t have too many distractions so have found it a fairly smooth transition.

What are you doing to keep in touch with the rest of the EQ team?

We have been keeping in touch regularly on Microsoft Teams, it’s good to hear how everyone else is getting on. We also used the video call facility which makes you feel like you are back in the office environment.

How are you looking after your emotional well being?

I make sure to go for a walk every evening after work to get some fresh air and to keep my steps up – it’s amazing how many less steps you do not being in the office! I might even try some virtual workouts (but I won’t hold my breath!) Most importantly, I have had regular video calls/messages with friends and family.

What advice would you give to others working from home?

Try and keep to your routine as much as possible and keep in touch with others to keep you motivated (and stay away from the snack drawer!) Pack away your work at the end of a working day so you can switch off from work and enjoy ‘me’ time.

Tell us, what are your new co-workers like?

He’s always on the phone…but does make me plenty cups of tea so I can’t complain really.

Our doors may be temporarily closed, but EQ are still here to support you. You can contact us on any of our usual telephone numbers and email addresses, which you can find on the Our People page on this website.
