EQ at home – Lia Hay

At EQ, our people are at the heart of what we do.

Although working from home means we are physically spread across our regions, our team are working hard to maintain regular communication with their clients whilst continuing to support colleagues by connecting with them daily.

We caught up with Lia Hay from our Dundee office to find out more about her experience working from home.

How are you finding working remotely?

Being a junior member of staff, the thought of working from home was a bit daunting. I was worried how I would manage without my usual support within the office. Nevertheless, everyone has been so helpful if I have rung them up however many times that day or sent a pleading email. Everyone’s willingness to help has been very encouraging.

What are you doing to keep in touch with the rest of the EQ team?

Communication has played a big part in enabling me to carry on with my job. Now more than ever I have found it so important to include all my colleagues in email threads to ensure we are all aware of what is going on with our clients. Our new video meetings have been a great chance to keep in contact with everyone and to see some friendly faces.

How are you looking after your emotional well being?

I have been trying to do something every day that enables me to keep my body active. Whether that is going for a walk, cycle, trying out a home workout or stretching my body and muscles with a yoga session. A cheeky glass of wine or a gin also helps to relax!

What advice would you give to others working from home?

Take time out! It is so easy to be stuck at your “desk” all day, and we can forget to move around. Whether you stop for five minutes to take a breather outside or you run downstairs to get another packet of crisps, it is important just to take a moment to relax your mind.

Tell us, what are your new co-workers like?

We both may wind each other up working in the same room and being on calls all day, but he does make it up to me by occasionally cooking me lunch. I will have to try and ask my work pod to do this for me when we get back to the office…

Our doors may be temporarily closed, but EQ are still here to support you. You can contact us on any of our usual telephone numbers and email addresses, which you can find on the Our People page on this website.
