EQ at home – Lynne Vaughan

At EQ, our people are at the heart of what we do.

Although working from home means we are physically spread across our regions, our team are working hard to maintain regular communication with their clients whilst continuing to support colleagues by connecting with them daily.

We caught up with Lynne Vaughan, EQ Accounting Senior Manager based in our Dundee office, to find out more about her experience working from home.

How are you finding working remotely?

The days are flying in and thankfully everything I do in the office can be done just as easily from home. It has been a busy time for the EQ team, and there can be large parts of the day spent on the phone to clients and colleagues. I miss the office and speaking with my colleagues, however, am enjoying being at home with the family and I’m not missing the drive to work and waiting in traffic!

What are you doing to keep in touch with the rest of the EQ team?

Calling is my main way to communicate with the team and clients, but I also use emails and Microsoft Teams with a weekly pod catchup.

I believe communication has improved within the firm – but it does mean sending a lot more emails.

How are you looking after your emotional well being?

As we have been so busy, it is difficult to switch off sometimes and easy to carry on working. My partner is home as well so we make time as a family to go for a walk or cycle around the village. I also look forward to my weekly trip to the supermarket.

As part of my youngest daughters school work she organised a family Olympics which was fun to take part in.

What advice would you give to others working from home?

Remember to eat and drink – it is so easy to lose track of time and the next thing you know it is after lunchtime. When on the phone I also like to walk about the house to get some extra steps in.

Tell us, what are your new co-workers like?

I am at home with my partner and 2 daughters, aged 14 and 11. We are spending far more time with each other which is nice. As I don’t drink tea or coffee I can’t complain about not having anyone to me a drink, and I am lucky that my girls enjoy baking so there is always cake to get me through a Monday.

One negative from them is that I am on the phone too much and speak really loud!

Our doors may be temporarily closed, but EQ are still here to support you. You can contact us on any of our usual telephone numbers and email addresses, which you can find on the Our People page on this website.
