EQ at home – Michael Stephenson

At EQ, our people are at the heart of what we do.

Although working from home means we are physically spread across our regions, our team are working hard to maintain regular communication with their clients whilst continuing to support colleagues by connecting with them daily.

We caught up with Michael Stephenson, Manager in our Glenrothes office, to find out more about his experience working from home.

How are you finding working remotely?

I began my career in audit so working remotely feels normal, but these times are far from normal. It’s been important to be there when my clients need me meaning normal working hours have gone out-of-the-window. I’ve even had a client using FaceTime to complete a stock count!

What are you doing to keep in touch with the rest of the EQ team?

We’re really good at staying in touch with one another with a combination of calls, team video calls and using Microsoft Teams for messaging – basically making full use of the technology available.

How are you looking after your emotional well being?

My two-month old son, Arthur, and improved cycling weather for my daily exercise are helping me to keep happy and optimistic.

What advice would you give to others working from home?

I spent an evening converting our spare bedroom into a dedicated office. It’s got a lovely view of our back garden and the hills and is possibly more comfortable that my office desk. For me, having a room dedicated for work that isn’t cramped is making a massive difference.

Tell us, what are your new co-workers like?

Arthur’s been great. He even helped me to write this.

Our doors may be temporarily closed, but EQ are still here to support you. You can contact us on any of our usual telephone numbers and email addresses, which you can find on the Our People page on this website.
