How well is your surgery performing? Category: Healthcare - Posted On: Apr 12 2018 EQ Healthcare is delighted to announce the publication of its GP Practices Benchmarking Report 2017. Produced in association with Kreston UK, the report explores statistics compiled from 161 practices across the UK. You can access the full report here – GP Practices Benchmarking Report 2017 We know that general practitioners are currently experiencing huge work pressures, along with falling incomes and controlling expenses, and we expect that this report will highlight a number of key areas on which a practice can focus. No two practices are exactly the same but comparison with a broader view allows a practice to understand its position respective to other similar practices. The report is split into PMS and GMS practices due to the wide differential in profitability between the two contracts. The majority of Scottish practices will fall under the GMS contract, so when making the comparison between your practices’ results and the report, be sure to use the GMS figures. The report is based on the existing 2004 GMS contract and with the commencement of the new contract this month, there could be additional challenges ahead. Key GMS statistics from the report • Income per patient has reduced by 3.3% in 2017 compared to 2016 • Overall costs per patient fell by 5.2% in 2017 • Average sessions per partner have fallen slightly from 6.82 in 2016 to 6.78 in 2017 • Overall profit per patient has risen by 0.6% in 2017 If you would like to find out more, please contact our specialist Healthcare team at Healthcare@eqaccountants.co.uk All News View the latest news stories from all of our sectors.
