New patent fees from 6 April 2018

Any business looking to apply for a patent may want to consider applying before 6th April to avoid increases in most fees.

There is an increase in the application fee from £20 to £60 (£90 for a paper application) and a 25% surcharge if not paid at the time of application. Renewal fees are not changing for years 5-11 but there is an additional charge for years 12-20 of £10 per year.

There will also be newly introduced fees for excess claims and excess pages.
