Small Business Grant Scheme to provide support for charities Category: CharitiesCOVID-19 - Posted On: May 15 2020 The Scottish Government has announced that they are extending the Small Business Grant Scheme to eligible charities who occupy rateable properties and meet the specific criteria. This will allow charities to apply for grants of up to £10,000 for properties which are in receipt of any Charitable Rates Relief or Sports Relief, but are otherwise eligible for the Small Business Bonus Scheme. Finance Secretary Kate Forbes, commented, “In order to support these vital charities we have therefore taken the decision to open up the Small Business Grant Scheme to allow them to apply for grants of £10,000 on the first eligible property and £7,500 on any additional eligible properties.” The extension of the grant, which is administered by local authorities, is estimated to be worth an extra £31m and will help ease the financial burden on charities during these difficult time.
