Sustainable and regenerative farming – next steps

Category: Agriculture - Posted On: Mar 4 2022

In a recent statement, the Scottish Government has laid out its plans to support farming and food production in Scotland to become “a global leader in sustainable and regenerative agriculture”.

The statement outlines a new framework which will underpin Scotland’s future agriculture support regime from 2025 onwards, including positive steps towards supporting a nature-friendly farming and “enhanced conditionality of at least half of all funding for farming and crofting by 2025”.

Head of EQ Agriculture, Mark Smeaton, commented,

“Farming can often be challenging and just as with any business, it comes with its fair share of monthly bills. Our EQ Agricultural team support our rural clients to source and apply for funding when necessary to help their business grow and thrive, whether that be investing in new equipment or diversification. This statement is a good sign that the Scottish Government is taking active participation in the ongoing needs of the agriculture sector, and we look forward to them following through on their promises to improve funding opportunities for farmers and crofters.”
