The Temporary Restrictions Fund for childcare providers

Category: COVID-19Healthcare - Posted On: Feb 8 2021

There are many in Scotland’s childcare sector that continue to provide childcare to vulnerable children or those of key workers who are permitted to attend day care under the revised guidance throughout the pandemic.

However, staying open under the new guidance could have a negative financial impact which is why the Scottish Government has made funding available through the Temporary Restrictions Fund.

This grant provides a four weekly payment for the period of restrictions, in addition to any other support that may have been claimed previously.

The Temporary Restrictions Fund is available to childcare providers who remain open for vulnerable children, children who are eligible for a funded 2 year old place and the children of key workers during the period of temporary restrictions, including:

  • day care of children providers (operating at any registered capacity)
  • childminding services who are currently providing childcare to 12 or more children
  • out of school care providers

Administered by Local Authorities, the grant amounts will vary according to the number of Care Inspectorate registered places and will be paid in arrears.

Applications are now open, with the deadline for the grant covering the first four week period of restrictions due by 1 March 2021. You can read more about the Temporary Restrictions Fund here.
