Transitional support fund for childcare providers

The Scottish Government recently announced the Transitional Support Fund to help childcare providers in the private, voluntary and not-for-profit sectors to meet the extra costs incurred to comply with public health guidance in response to COVID-19. The grant could help with costs for increased cleaning, investment in additional equipment for outdoor space or adaptions to the environment to support physical distancing between adults, such as changes to entrances/exits.

To be eligible for the Fund you must be registered with the Care Inspectorate as being a “day care of children” service and a “private” or “voluntary or not-for-profit” service. This includes providing out of school care and outdoor childcare settings. Also, you must have reopened, or plan to reopen by Monday 7 September.

Childcare providers with multiple settings will be able to claim the grant for each individual setting provided the above criteria are met for each setting.

The grant amounts will be based on the registered capacity of each setting and will range from £1,500 to £8,000.

The grants will be administered by local authorities and applications will be open from the end of August 2020. Applications must be submitted by Friday 9 October. More information can be found here.
