The Opportunity

Our Amber Accounting Services team have an excellent reputation for providing a variety of high-quality accounting services, including Payroll. Due to an expanding client base, we are looking to strengthen our Amber team in our Dundee office by recruiting a Payroll Assistant. Reporting to the Amber Senior Manager and Payroll Manager, you will join our busy team helping to support our clients’ requirements.

The Role

This is a varied role which involves all aspects of payroll for a range of clients.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing a payroll service (weekly/fortnightly/monthly)
  • Processing employee information
  • Preparing payslips and reports
  • Preparing P45 and P32s
  • Completing payroll year end
  • Providing assistance to clients with Pension Auto Enrolment
  • General administrative duties

The Candidate


  • At least 6 National 5 grades (or equivalent) at grade B (or equivalent) or above
  • Competent in Microsoft packages including Office and Outlook
  • Good numerical skills
  • Excellent communication skills, and client service skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Articulate
  • Committed to excellent client care
  • The ability to work as part of a team



  • Higher Maths and English (or equivalent)
  • Previous experience using Sage Payroll
  • General experience with prior payroll knowledge
  • Knowledge of Pension Auto Enrolment and setting up pension schemes
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
