A significant proportion of these businesses operate as Partnerships, both the traditional format and, in recent years, Limited Liability Partnerships (LLP’s). There are also a growing number incorporating their businesses, as professional bodies have relaxed previous trading structure restrictions. However, in many cases the internal ownership and management structures retain many of the characteristics of a traditional partnership – and many of the problems, inefficiencies and challenges that this provides.
On a regular basis we support these clients through a series of routine services, including audit, accounting, taxation and payroll. We apply some ingenious ideas to minimise tax liabilities, and assist cashflow management. However increasingly we support those same clients in a manner which delivers even greater benefits – driving immediate and long term value into the business.
These clients also have a requirement for support in the area of Practice Management, in dealing with the many challenges which arise in managing a diverse group of “owners”. The expertise of a number of our experienced partners enables them to work with clients, assisting the management team in tackling difficult issues, and often providing a mentoring service for the Managing Partner/Managing Director. In our experience many such clients appoint their Managing Partner from within their ranks, and while they may have many of the skills required to deal with Operational Management, they can often lack Strategic vision and an ability to detach themselves sufficiently from the personal relationships which exist. A Managing Partners role can be unenviable, and at times a lonely existence. That’s where we can help.
