The Role

Job Title: Audit Senior 
Salary: Competitive 
Hours of work: Full time – 35 hours per week 
Location: East Scotland – Based at EQ Accountants Limited (EQ), 14 City Quay, Dundee, DD1 3JA and working in the field with our clients in the Dundee and Angus area. 
Contract type: Permanent 
Responsible to: Audit Partner 
Responsible for: No direct reports but may review the work of the junior audit team

The role: 

The Audit Senior role is a varied and rewarding role that is guaranteed to develop and grow your business partnering, commercial finance skills and your ability to analyse and interpret data. 

As a key front-facing member of the Audit team, your ability to build strong working relationships and effectively implement our audit plans, projects and initiatives will be crucial to our success in enabling our clients to safeguard their controls and compliance and ultimately add commercial value to their businesses. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

In the Audit Senior role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end client audit experience with support from the Manager and Audit Partner. 

You’ll be planning, organising, documenting, supervising, and completing a case load of client audit fieldwork assessing the effectiveness of internal controls and identifying risks. 

As part of each audit assignment, you’ll have the opportunity to propose recommendations to the Audit Partner and Manager. 

You’ll also be responsible for reviewing the work of our audit juniors and assisting them with their training and development. 

 

What you’ll need to be successful: 

ACCA/CA qualified including newly qualified but with a minimum of two years of general practice experience. 

  • Technically competent with a deep understanding of accounting principles and auditing standards and regulatory requirements with business advisory skills.
  • The ability to assess risks, evaluate controls and identify areas of improvement.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse complex financial information, identify patterns and draw meaningful conclusions as well as develop appropriate audit procedures.
  • Positivity and confidence in your abilities, but you’re also a kind, empathetic person.
  • Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to articulate audit findings, recommendations, and accounting concepts clearly and concisely.
  • The ability to build positive working relationships with clients and colleagues in a conscientious and diplomatic way that motivates people to arrive at solutions that achieve their targeted outcomes.
  • Computer literate with knowledge and experience of audit and practice management systems as well as the usual MS Office applications.
  • Good attention to detail and the ability to effectively analyse and report on outcomes and issues.
  • You understand how to organise and maintain audit planning systems that keep you on track to deliver the expected outcomes of several audit projects at once.
  • The expectation is that you’ll work across our client locations in Dundee and Angus, therefore, your ability to travel independently is a must.
