Cabinet Secretary for Rural Economy and Tourism, Fergus Ewing, has announced details of the support available for larger self-catering properties and B&Bs paying Council Tax.

As part of the £104.3 million support package for tourism and hospitality businesses announced in December 2020, the £7 million Large Self-Catering Grant and the Exclusive Use Grant will provide financial support for eligible self–catering businesses and exclusive use premises.

To be eligible for the Large Self-Catering Grant, which offers a one off payment of £2,000, self-catering businesses must be on the Non Domestic Rates (NDR) roll and must be recorded by the rates assessor as sleeping seven or more guests.

To be eligible for the Exclusive Use Grant, which offers a one off payment of £10,000, self-catering businesses must be listed on the NDR roll as ‘exclusive use accommodation’.

All self-catering properties, B&Bs and guest houses that are eligible at Level 4 for NDR can now apply to the Strategic Framework Business Fund (SFBF) through your local authority website with the grants, in most cases of £2,000, paid every four weeks in arrears.

Details of how to access the Large Self-Catering Grant and the Exclusive Use Grant, and support for B&Bs paying Council Tax rather than NDR, are due to be published on the Find Business Support website shortly.
