EQ at home – Jessica Alexander

At EQ, our people are at the heart of what we do.

Although working from home means we are physically spread across our regions, our team are working hard to maintain regular communication with their clients whilst continuing to support colleagues by connecting with them daily.

We caught up with Jessica Alexander from our Glenrothes office to find out more about her experience working from home.

How are you finding working remotely?

I’m finding working from home a lot easier than I thought. At first, I expected it to be quite difficult due to being described as a ‘social butterfly’ as I enjoy seeing and speaking to my colleagues. However, we have found new ways of communicating making working from home a lot easier.

What are you doing to keep in touch with the rest of the EQ team?

We have been utilising all different types of social contacts, Microsoft teams, Facebook messenger and WhatsApp. Although these tools are not new, we’re only now using them as key methods of communication. Every day someone in the team checks in on you and know you aren’t alone while working from home. EQ have definitely shown a ‘family spirit’ throughout social distancing.

How are you looking after your emotional well being?

Every day after work I take a long walk with my fiancé and two dogs. Getting out of the house after a full day in doors is important for my wellbeing. It helps that we have the Balbirnie grounds on our doorstep and had lovely weather to do this!

What advice would you give to others working from home?

Continue to keep some form of ‘routine’ throughout the week and keep in contact with colleagues. Plenty cups of tea and snacks also help….

Tell us, what are your new co-workers like?

My new furry colleagues have assumed that I have become a stay at home dog mum, but they make working from home more enjoyable and love to cuddle up while I work.

Our doors may be temporarily closed, but EQ are still here to support you. You can contact us on any of our usual telephone numbers and email addresses, which you can find on the Our People page on this website.
