EQ at home – Louise Grant

At EQ, our people are at the heart of what we do.

Although working from home means we are physically spread across our regions, our team are working hard to maintain regular communication with their clients whilst continuing to support colleagues by connecting with them daily.

We caught up with Louise Grant, Partner in our Dundee office, to find out more about her experience working from home.

How are you finding working remotely?
At first it was challenging, to say the least, especially with having two school age children at home too. However, we are one week in and have started to get into a better routine. The children have set their daily timetable to include school work, AND lots of ‘free’ play! I am not a teacher, so I have gladly let my children enjoy this ‘free’ time.

During these difficult times, my clients and their businesses have been my priority.

Now my husband is at home, he has built me an office in our garage, to give me some peace, and he has taken over the home schooling! Good luck kids!

What are you doing to keep in touch with the rest of the EQ team?
Our communication has been better than ever. We are all making a huge effort to keep in touch – by email, phone and video conferencing. Our fantastic Manager group have set up ‘pod chats’, to allow those from each pod in the office to continue with their social chat. This has certainly helped with normality and kept up morale.

Our own office partner group have been in regular contact via the video conference facility, which has worked well – it’s always nice to actually see people.

How are you looking after your emotional well being?
I think it is very important to continue with exercise, get fresh air and to take a break from my laptop. Each morning I have gone for a run, some days with my daughter and others on my own with my tunes and that has certainly helped keep my emotional well being stable……..for now!

What advice would you give to others working from home?
Routine, routine, routine! Stick to the same routine you had before working from home – exercise, get fresh air and try not to lose your patience with the children, this situation is new to them too.

Tell us, what are your new co-workers like?
Loud and cheeky, but very loving.

Our doors may be temporarily closed, but EQ are still here to support you. You can contact us on any of our usual telephone numbers and email addresses, which you can find on the Our People page on this website.
