Rachel Bell, newly appointed Partner in our Dundee office

We are excited that our three new Partners will take up their roles from 1 April, bringing the total number of Partners to 17.

All three undertook their training within the Firm including Rachel Bell, who strengthens our Dundee office with her extensive technical expertise in corporate taxation.

Since joining EQ as a trainee in 2008, and completing her CA qualification with ICAS, Rachel chose to specialise in taxation, qualifying as a CTA in 2014. Her in-depth knowledge of complex tax matters led to her becoming a key member of our Research and Development (R&D) Tax team who have gone on to help clients claim nearly £20m of tax savings.

Along with her role in the R&D team, Rachel also leads the specialist Transaction Tax team, dealing with business restructuring, purchases and sales. Her technical expertise ensures that all relevant tax implications are considered ahead of any transaction to allow the best outcome for each of her clients.

Rachel comments,

“EQ have supported me throughout my journey, and I am delighted to be promoted to Partner with the firm that have helped me achieve my goals. I would like to thank all of my colleagues, clients and contacts for their constant encouragement and look forward to continuing to work with them to ensure the continued success of the firm.”

Last year Rachel was named in the ICAS Top 100 One Young CAs list, a prestigious list of rising stars and ones to watch in the future of the profession. She was recognised for her technical expertise, and for the crucial role she plays in growing our taxation proposition. Alongside her impressive technical skills, Rachel is highly praised by her clients for her approachable and understanding nature.

David Morrison, Partner and Head of EQ Taxation, adds,

“From the day she started with EQ, Rachel demonstrated her outstanding commitment to clients, her technical expertise and her warmth of character – everything that embodies the way in which EQ seeks to do business. In her role as a “Taxpert”, Rachel has shown a real aptitude for highly complex deals and restructuring work, which has resulted in significant benefits for many of our clients. We’re delighted that Rachel has achieved her goal of partnership and we’ve no doubt that this promotion is only the start of even greater achievements.”

We have offices in ForfarDundeeCupar and Glenrothes and through the hard work and dedication of our team, we have achieved strong levels of growth in the last 5 years, increasing turnover to £8m in 2020. We look forward to strengthening our position with Rachel and our other new Partners in the year ahead.

Congratulations Rachel, from all of us at EQ!
